Major Zulu understands the weight and power of a voice.


Her artistic DNA was forged early by her father, a prominent activist who fought on the frontlines for Zambian democracy. Growing up in the shadow of that courage, she learned that a voice is a tool for liberation. Today, as an unapologetically independent artist, she channels that inherited fire into her own movement: an activism for love, connection, and the living philosophy of Ubuntu—I am because we are

Her musical path spans the globe—born in Zambia, shaped in London, sharpened over eight years in the intimate jazz sanctuaries of Paris, and now based in Sydney.

Along the way, she has featured with Grammy-winning electronic titans Basement Jaxx, shared stages with legends like Amy Winehouse, Norah Jones, and Earth, Wind & Fire, and captivated audiences from Glastonbury and SXSW to Vivid Sydney and Sydney Women’s International Jazz Festival. 

Yet behind the formidable resume lies an artist committed to raw, openhearted connection. Major Zulu crafts lush, velvet neo-soul and rich harmonic soundscapes that strip away pretension to reach what is fundamentally human. Following the AMRAP Top 10 success of her self-titled release ‘I Am Major Zulu, she is now preparing to unveil ‘Home’—an evocative EP deeply rooted in the rich textures, rhythm, and storytelling of her African origins. In maintaining complete ownership of her music, she chooses not to chase the noise of the industry, but to build lasting cultural bridges.
